We are a group of Ottawa residents who rallied to save the lives of two beaver, Lily and Lucky, who built a lodge in a storm water pond in Stittsville, a suburb of Ottawa. These beaver were going to be trapped and killed by the City, but because of a huge public outcry which included a petition, emails, phone calls, a demonstration, and media coverage, the Mayor suspended the trapping, for now. We continue to fight for all beaver in Ottawa.

Colorado relocates beaver, why can't we?
Here's a great article in the Denver Post about Sherri Tippie, Colorado's only licensed, live trapper who relocates beaver. She's relocated close to 1,000 beaver and she's a staunch beaver advocate. She believes all life is valuable and equal to that of humans. Read more about her here. It's well worth reading. Love the pic of her kissing the head of the beaver.

Beaver Happy Holidays card to mail to Mayor Watson
Hello everyone! I made a "Happy Holidays from Lily and Lucky and all the Beaver in Ottawa" card that you can colour and mail to Mayor Watson. Click here to get a copy. We need to remind him that we are making sure that he implements the Wildlife Strategy so that we can coexist in harmony with our wildlife. We want him to know that just because Lily and Lucky were spared, we are not stopping our fight to save the rest of the beaver in Ottawa. I hope he receives many cards. Happy Holidays and may 2012 bring positive change and compassion for all.
